If you sell on eBay you know that some of the questions you get flat out make you shake your head or burst out in laughter. I will try to share them with you from time to time on here. Someday I hope to write a book (digital even) with all my funny and stupid eBay related stories.
Here is today's question in regards to a brand new phone I have listed.
Dear Seller,
Is this phone a really good phone to use and will last me for a year? I want a phone that wont break or have the screen turn white or black so I couldn't see the screen. My past 2 phones have done that and I really want a phone that will actually work. Will this one?
Now seriously..I cannot make that up on my own. How does this person function daily?

A hockey game at Wrigley Field?
Yepper! Red Wings vs Blackhawks on New Years Day.
I wanna go in the worst way but something tells me this will be the harder ticket to get than if the Cubs make it to the World Series. Rumor has it that the tix will not be made available thru normal ticket channels. Last years game at Rich Stadium in Buffalo, NY was a complete sell out of over 71,000 tickets. Wrigley only holds a little over half that.

Buy.com thoughts
Buy.com is making all us sellers look bad but at the same time making alot of us step up our programs a notch or 2
I have been studying this whole Buy.com thing on eBay. They have their shit together. I honestly thought I was doing a great job (and I still do for the amount of product I move thru 2 major channels) until I really started looking into their business model. What they are doing is astonding to me. They as one username in less than 4 months time became the largest seller on eBay generating over $3 million a month. And yes, most of their stuff that I have researched that they are selling nobody else is selling. They do have the newest latest stuff and thats one thing that is lacking on eBay. I am to blame just as much as other sellers. My business model does not allow me to source out the newest latest ink and toner cartridges on the market since we buy overstocks and closeouts and expired ink. The ink and toner that Buy.com is selling in my catagory is not the same stuff I sell and they are getting within about 10% of retail for it all. I had a customer the other day that needed some HP 3800 toners. All i have are remans, he wanted new and wanted them from me. So I bought them from Buy.com and had them shipped here. I had them the next day! Im sure they have warehouse space all over the country that allows them to deliver that kind of service. I ordered a CAT5 cable from them last month that I needed at home, rather than buy it at Best Buy. Had it in 2 days.

I ship all my orders within 48hrs of payment made but they are doing it same day by the looks of things. Thats great, they have millions behind them and a big staff. I guess what Im trying to say is this, they are making alot of us look stupid. Why wouldnt eBay want to go more this route? You would too. Not saying they are getting rid of us smaller sellers but when they can bring on a buy.comand generate $3million a month GMV in 4 months with a 2.5% STR. Think about how many of us top sellers it takes to generate that much GMV and think of how much maintence it takes to maintain this many sellers as opposed to one seller. I would welcome them with open arms too and create a Diamond powerseller status for more to come on board too.
I didnt tell you this but I hear that JC Whitney is next to come on board at eBay and that Zappos is looking at putting their 6PM line on eBay as well.
The other positive I can pull from all this is that they currently have over 130,000 positive feedbacks which means 130,000 happy buyers. That alone gives me the confidence I need to stay positive about eBay moving forward.

My first blog post
Wow I am officially a blogger now! Not sure what I wanna talk (write about). I am guessing you are wondering where the name of my blog came from. Well there is this awesome band from Pittsburgh called The Clarks (http://www.clarksonline.com/) and that was the name of their 3rd album. It comes from a lyric in their most popular song called "Cigarette". If you like just good rock music check them out and be sure to listen to "Cigarette" even if you dont smoke (I dont).
I make my living selling online via eBay, Overstock.com and Amazon.com. I am entering my 11th year of this madness that I love. This is my 4th company I have worked for starting with my own back in 1997 but this is by far my best chance to showcase my talents and work with some really fun people. I seriously enjoy my career and hope this ride never ends. We are one of eBay's Top 200 accounts, I am a member of PeSA (Professional eBay Sellers Association), one of Overstock.com's top 100 accounts and slowly but surely moving up the Amazon.com ladder too.
I love cars. I didnt really have much of a choice with that as both my parents were very much into cars and thats how they met, heck I was even named after a local racer. I currently have 2 girls named Sunshine and Eleanor (see pic above). Sunshine is a new 2008 Saturn Sky Redline Turbo in Sunburst Yellow. and Eleanor is a 2005 Ford Mustang in Legend Lime Green (#667 off the line in 2005). Sunshine is my newest addition. I have always wanted a little Roadster and I must admit I could be having the worst day and get inside with the top down and forget about life for a while. Everyone should have a toy like this!
